Resources for Teaching the Energy Cycle at Fresh Pond Reservation
“Snowfleas” may be visible in January at FPR during a thaw.
“Snowfleas” are a kind of “springtail,” which are not insects but a kind of arthropod (hexapod) no longer classed as insects.
Springtails are cryptozoa frequently found in leaf litter and other decaying material,[12] where they are primarily detritivores and microbivores, and one of the main biological agents responsible for the control and the dissemination of soil microorganisms.[13]
